OUGD503 - Collaborative Practice - Reflection & Evaluation

Being my first large collaborative brief, I found it surprisingly beneficial to always be working alongside other practitioners with different specialisms. Our brief lent itself well to collaborative practice, it needed constant debate and communication to come up with a whole television programme from start to finish. It was a project that would not have been possible to complete without additions from Animation, Graphic Design and Illustration. Every aspect was considered and undertaken, the film, animation, concept art, script writing, story boards, branding, music production, voice acting and conceptual design were all key factors which gave depth to our submission. The views of my peers were important factors to consider, especially with animation as it was important to know what was possible when it comes to merging film, illustration and animation. Overall, I think that we managed to create a professional short pilot which successfully depicts our shows concept. This concept could then easily be developed and expanded upon using a professional studio environment, lighting and equipment. This was one area where I feel that our filming lacked in professionalism. It quickly became apparent when filming that the location should always be filmed from one direction to keep consistency with the audience and help the filming run smoothly from scene to scene.
