OUGD503 - Studio Brief 2 - Responsive Slides

The aim of the slides was to find a collaboration with a filmography / motion graphic designer to create a promo video. I would also attend film workshops to build upon my knowledge and skillets.

OUGD503 - Inclusive Living - Ecological & Sustainable Primary Research

Whilst in Australia, I visited an Environmentally friendly Library to study the buildings features, books and gardens. Various pictures of the signs and wildlife around the building were taken as inspiration for my environmentally friendly project. The building was sustainable in every aspect, for example, bike racks were installed to encourage less car pollution and the car park was located underground to keep cars out of the summer sun.

The features of this piece of architecture will be instrumental in the development of my own designs and will give the project an extra level of depth as more design factors will need to be considered.

OUGD503 - Inclusive Living - Shading Devices Primary Photography Research

Whilst in Australia, I took the opportunity to gather some valuable primary source research of shading devices and passive cooling techniques. These cooling techniques are a integral part of architecture in Australia due to the hot weather and year round sun. The architectural designs gathered all abide to modernist ideologies being clean cut and made from simple materials such as mesh and steel. They include a variety of innovative solutions to the retainment of temperature within a building, these include some movable or rotating features which can be activated or deactivated depending on season or time of day.

These modern styles, are what I envision for my own outhouse concept and therefore, they will be a valuable source of reference to turn to when conceptualising my idea in sketch or digital form.

OUGD503 - Substantial Briefs - Further Brief Analysis

After much consideration and extra analysis into RSA's inclusive living brief, its has been determined that they are not after a concept to work within poverty or disaster stricken communities but instead are after ways to innovate our current living situation to accommodate for ageing population, people with disabilities, and further connect the family lifestyle in an affordable and beneficial way.

The inclusive living brief will now focus on the development of future living within modern housing such as sustainability, land space, population considerations and building materials whereas Starpacks  first aid brief will primarily work on temporary put up housing solutions to be dropped into disaster zones and shanty villages.
