OUGD505 - Studio Brief 2 - Digital Character Research

When researching into digital character designs, I explored the world of virtual pets and looked at how its trend had evolved over the years. One of the first companies to explore this concept was Tamagotchi, these small digital devices would allow the user to look after and care for their pet. As technology has progressed, the smart phone started to utilise this concept and most recently, the idea of augmented reality has been explored in applications such as Pokemon Go. By utilising the camera, characters can be created digitally with animations and sound effects. This could be an interesting concept to explore within my own fruit character concept.
