OUGD505 - Studio Brief 1 - Grasping an Understanding of the Events Emotions

In order to successfully portray the emotions of the event, I must first understand how it felt to be there. With the event being mainly based around music, I have listened to various recordings from the stages at the event found on websites such as youtube.

This will allow me to deliver a graphic solution that relates to any viewers who may have experienced the event.

From my music understanding, the genres which seem to have been most apparent here are:

  • Trance
  • Disco
  • Electronic Music
  • Dance Pop
  • Acid House
  • House
  • Happy Hardcore
  • Progressive Dance
  • Eurodance
  • Bubblegum Dance

All of these genres convey very bright and bubbly scenes, it would be worthwhile studying event posters from the 90's to see what colours schemes and printing techniques were used at this time.

When comparing the Love Parade recordings to say the techno mixes of a few years later, there is a definite shift in the emotions the music makes me as an artist feel. I get a darker, intense, more underground felling from say Waveform festival 2007 where the music genres shift to:

  • Psy Trance
  • Drum & Bass
  • Breaks
  • Techno
  • Hard Trance
