Tutor advice suggested that a good way to appeal to the elderly consumer would be to make the housing system more personal. The elderly generation tend to have pride in their lifelong possessions and styles and therefore, a modern outhouse with no character may be quite alien to them. By making each pod somewhat customisable to the customer, it could embed a sense of home within the building. Therefore, a system would be put in place, allowing the customer to edit aspects of their outhouse before the building is delivered.
Aspects which could be customised:
- Size
- Colour
- Fittings
- Plantlife
- Cladding (timber covering etc...)
- Lighting
- Furniture
- Disabled handles (removed/applied)
