OUGD503 - Inclusive Living - Age Population Statistics & Multi-Gen Housing Proposal

After interrogating the brief, it was noted that it states to design a concept for the 'future' of housing. In order to create an appropriate deliverable and final outcome, future predictions and statistics must first be analysed. Therefore, I started with the most certain aspect of future development, the rise in population and life expectancy. Statistics were taken from the UK government website which suggest that both life expectancy and population will rise as technology advances. This indicates towards the possibility of multi-generation housing with 3 or even 4 generations living within one household.  This could be a definite solution to the limited space which is available for housing development within the UK.

With the increasing amount of bad publicity on nursing homes in recent years, there are also suggesting that care homes could be on their way out and people will opt to care for their loved ones themselves instead.

The guardian article below states that the government are in a progressive state of funding reductions within nursing homes. This solidifies the prediction that caring homes may not be around much longer.
