With the brief being so broad and open to interpretation, I thought that the first steps should be narrowing down the artists to define the brief more clearly. I went through the list listening to their music to find an artist who I can passionately create a piece of artwork for. The only way to represent an artist to the best of my ability is to study the music they produced.
The two final candidates are Nat Jaffe, a swing jazz pianist, and Jacob Miller, a reggae artist. Reggae and Swing Jazz are two genres which I really enjoy listening to but have not had much chance to produce any artwork for in the past. This is why these two artists have been chosen.
