This small brief is an extremely open one which is why I feel it is important to take advice from Irma Boom and write my own brief with restrictions.
'No restrictions make it very difficult, we have to create our own framework. If the commissioner does not do it, then we have to do it. It has to be comprehensive, otherwise it does not work.'
The circle of -ING's brand and competition represents unity and collectiveness, try to replicate this connectivity within a creative concept.
How can a circle be represented in a collaborative way?
Think of unusual conceptual techniques/ideas which represent collaboration and networking
Initial Ideas and thoughts
- Networking could be replicated in a spiders web
- Other insects which network are ants and bees
- Give multiple designers a section of the circle to design to represent the collaborative process
- Chain links represent the bringing together of different components to form one solid collaborative structure
- Metal fences also produce this outcome
- Submit two circles which have to be displayed together to form one design
Other considerations -
Any media can be submitted: motion graphics, photography, mix media, painting, digital etc...
Utilise unusual processes at the university e.g. foiling, embossing which are not accessible to most of the competition
Produce a clear concept to stand out above other designers who will just design to 'look nice'
