OUGD504 - Studio Brief 1 - Tutor / Peer Feedback & Expanding Research and Ideas

  • Old rave flyers had to be cheap as there was little funding in these illegal events

  • The designs of the flyers also had to portray a sense of illegality and being unofficial which is why many of the designs show a connotation of being temporary or put up / shabby.

Further research on old flyers has notified me that much of the flyer designs had to be cheap and therefore printed onto florissant stock using black ink on photocopiers etc... This could inform how my own publication will be cheaply printed and mass produced taking spot colour and limited inks into consideration

Initial thoughts of creating a postmodern design to resinate with the designs of the flyers has been challenged by peer feedback which suggests that a more clear and concise layout might be more effective to celebrate all of the designs instead of just trying to replicate their style. Keeping my page layout minimalist will help to focus the viewers eye on purely the content of the publication, some small subtle block informational print would be the most effective way of not drawing attention away from the content itself.
