The Nøtel by Kode9 and Lawrence Lek

'DJ, music producer, writer and researcher Kode9 and "simulation artist" Lawrence Lek discuss their collaboration for the show "The Nøtel" where they explore the conceptual and uncharted space of post-capitalism through liminal beats, spectral 3D renders, holograms and structures that defy gravity.'
Another example of music visualisation is being explored by DJ Kode9 and simulation artist Laurence Lek which displays a very similar ideology to the multi sensory experience which I found at the UNKLE exhibition. This technique however, has been scaled up and put into fruition at a festival giving the audience a journey of both sound and visuals. The artwork is displayed on large projector screens behind the DJ, this has always been an area which has fascinated me when attending festivals myself. Whilst most of my friends visit festivals purely for the music, I have always been very interested in the experience as a whole taking in the visual and design elements.
The visuals at festivals have always been a huge inspiration in my creative work and its amazing to see a designer thinking innovatively with it to really merge visual and audio taking the audience on a journey through art.
