OUGD405 - Public Information Extended Video/Research
After some simple planning and sketches, i have decided that the Drug Misuse video would be a more beneficial video to create a leaflet for. I found that the drug misuse issue is a more recognised and appreciated topic, there are hundreds of leaflets which can be found for inspiration in doctors waiting rooms and NHS buildings.
The video which I analysed was short however had an impactful message. The video uses repetative quick statements until the last statement 'Heroin Screws You Up' this message then pauses for a few seconds in order for the message to sink in with the viewer. I could possibly create a similar bold message as my front cover which is isolated to sink in with the reader. I also found the video to be dark and ambiguous throughout with only glances of the girls face. This is to create a lonely isolated aesthetic to represent the feeling of being on heroin. I could think about similar ways to portray an ambiguous sense of drug use within the layout and colour of my text. Creating an uncomfortable read for the viewer could reproduce a similar emotional effect on the viewer that the video above has. I do feel that the target audience for the video is adults as the video is quite impoliticly incorrect in the modern day we live in. The media of showing a young girl on drugs would not be allowed in doctors waiting rooms today so it would be a more appropriate to not include shocking disturbing photography.
