With Irfan being in charge more of the digital designs, he composed these designs for the social media and digital pages. This concept was informed from the blog post OUGD603 - Brief 2 - Identity Conceptual Research, which itself was informed by last years blog post, OUGD505 - Studio Brief 1 - Research into the BBC 90's - 2000's where I researched into the BBC Test Card F for may screen print project. It has been an idea circling in my mind for a while however, this project seemed perfect to implement it.
The poster used image reappropriation of the initial test card design to be remixed into a more contextually fitting design for our event. This design has been informed by the research conducted in the blog post OUGD603 - Brief 1 - Genre & Sociological Aesthetics Research, where borderline plagiaristic techniques were used throughout the rave period which would recontextualise pre-existing imagery in a new and innovative way embody a sense of anti-establishmentism and anarchy towards commercialism and society.
The design also draws from past culture to target the audiences nostalgic psychology, by ambiguously including a familiar and relatable design to the BBC Test Card, the public who were around in the 80's and 90's will instantly relate to the concept on a personal level. The ambidextrous design also allows for it to be used both vertically and horizontally for use on social media and print based media.
