The latest lecture in Responsive has put across the point that there is no point doing a job for a client and recieving little money just to be paid. Challenge yourself as a designer and instead and work on your own briefs instead of completing unchallenging work just because it is commercial. Reflecting on this advice, over the summer I could have set my own briefs and improved my skills with screen printing or motion graphics instead of doing the menu designs and gym work as seen on my PPP blog and getting paid. My time could have been spent improving areas which I wanted to improve and setting my own, more challenging briefs.
Another point which i related heavily to is that the client will always find an opportunity to add slight changes onto the agreed price and contract. Ways to prevent this happening is to price the contract with 3 changes available, any changes after this will cost more.
