RSA - Inclusive Living
Starpack - Disaster Aid/Emergency Packaging
Even though these briefs initially seem quite different, I can draw parallels which can be worked through each. I have always been interested in the development of low income countries and trying to help shanty home communities in Africa. Inclusive Living asks the commissioner to produce a concept for a new way of living in houses in the future. If looked at from a low income perspective point of view, future living would consist of cheap and efficient housing communities which can be assembled with little architectural or building knowledge much like tents. The star pack disaster aid/emergency packaging asks the task of creating a package which can be dropped into disaster situations to aid people in need. Both of these briefs could be intertwined to fit both proposals.
Considerations:
- how life changes from child to adult to old age affect the way we live
- the impact of a sudden and life-changing impairment or health condition
- how the cost and choice of education is affected
- the political and socio-economic side of living
- affordability of the proposal
