OUGD406 - Studio Brief 2 - Sushi Roll Mat Inspiration
I have recently been thinking of different stocks and materials to use to create a traditional authentic manual piece of art for my currency design. The feedback from the critique feedback suggested using wood or homemade recycled paper however, I have recently developed on this idea by looking at traditional Chinese food for more further broad inspiration sources. It is here that I have come across sushi rolling matts which use woven bamboo to create a flexible piece of wood. I feel that this could be integrated into my designs to create a truly unique piece of currency. The only current problem which I can think of is which printing method i could use to create an effective result, screen printing is an option but I feel that the gaps in the wood could cause a problem with the ink. I should ask a tutor for some printing method feedback to further understand how this concept could be applied.
