OUGD603 - Brief 2 - Public Marketing Strategies

In order to expand our demographic, we hired a speaker set, amps and electric generators to play outside of the Parkinson Building. This unique way of advertising is contextually appropriate as our event is music orientated. It also allowed us to play some acid house style music to allow the public to better grasp an understanding of our music genre. We pre-recorded our event name, location and date to play out of the speakers along with displaying our posters and promotional material alongside. We decided to host the set outside the university at lunchtime in order to reach out to a larger student target audience.

OUGD603 - Brief 2 - Metal Ticket / Laser Cutter Design Concept

To further create merchandise which will relate our event to the warehouse scene, metal embossed tickets were designed for production. However, upon further investigation within the university, it was noted that the laser cutter facilities at the college could not produce the desired effect. The only way to produce metal embosses tickets would be to use a plasma cutter which is £100 per hour use. This was noted as a possible concept for future events but not within our budget for this event.

The embossed tickets would also be a good marketing technique to expand our brand publicity. Holes drilled in the corners of each ticket would allow the customer to use their small metal ticket as a keyring.

Information about laser and plasma cutter abilities were found from a workshop tutorial in the metal and woodwork department of the college.
